tech fascism watch

table of contents

this page is a signal boost of two channels on the Nouveau community's Discord server : #fascist-noise and #harmony .

i'm sharing them here so more people can avoid supporting projects that may be harmful or in misalignment with their values . the following assessments are true to the best of my knowledge , but please investigate yourself if you're unsure .

#fascist-noise

A channel for keeping tabs on companies and projects that have turned into fascist sympathizers.

framework computer

Type: Company
Website: frame.work
Products/Services: Computers & Hardware
Accuracy: Confirmed

Nirav Patel's company, Framework Computer has turned heel recently, sponsoring the Hyprland project as well as DHH's Omarchy. Nirav himself uses Omarchy and is very aware of DHH's political stances and writings.

Hyprland is known to be a fascist project and is a part of the Omarchy Linux distribution. DHH is a vocal fascist and manages Omarchy. There seems to be a direct social connection there.

Avoid at all costs.

rocknix

Type: Project
Website: rocknix.org
Products/Services: Linux Distribution
Accuracy: Confirmed

ROCKNIX is an immutable Linux distribution focused around emulation. The authors and developers of the project responded in a way that’s consistent with being fascist sympathizers.

User nycki@bark.lgbt has a more detailed post which also includes a Reddit thread.

#harmony

A channel for positive voices resisting the forces that seek to tear us down.

mnt

To offset the Framework news...

MNT is such a cool company. They’re queer-led and I am so looking forward to the Reform Next from them.

forgejo

Forgejo is cool. It's a really great self-hosted forge software that’s got multiple queer members of the dev team, and the code of conduct is antifascist, and just a pretty good code of conduct in general.

elementary

I’ve used Elementary for a bit back in its early days, and it seems like it’s improved a lot. A nice little statement from the owner of the company behind it.

@and.null •

python

Python has withdrawn from a US National Science Foundation grant to preserve their foundation’s goal of “diversity, inclusion, and equity”. Absolute power move in my opinion.

kde

Bravo, KDE.
